Refrigerator
repair.
A fridge that has stopped cooling is an urgent problem. Tell us the make, what it is doing, and roughly how long it has been happening.

Common refrigerator problems
Some of these are quick fixes and some are not — the symptom usually indicates which.
- Not cooling at all
- Freezer works but the fridge section does not
- Heavy ice build-up in the freezer
- Water collecting at the bottom
- The unit runs constantly and never cuts off
- Loud humming or clicking
- The door seal no longer holds
Single door, double door and side-by-side
Direct-cool single door units and frost-free double door units fail in different ways. Single door problems are more often the thermostat or the gas charge; frost-free units add a defrost heater, timer and sensor, which is where a lot of their faults sit.
Before the visit
Do not empty the fridge unless it has already stopped cooling entirely. Note the make and model from the sticker inside the door, and tell us whether the light and the fan are still working — that narrows it down considerably.
Questions
Before you get in touch.
My freezer works but the fridge does not cool.
On frost-free models this often points to airflow between the compartments, or the defrost system. It is a common and usually identifiable fault.
Is it worth repairing an old fridge?
Depends on the fault and the unit. If the repair costs more than the fridge is worth, we will say so.
Do you carry gas for refrigerators?
Refrigerator gas is different from AC refrigerant and the charge is small and precise. Tell us the model when you call.
Can it be repaired at home?
Most jobs, yes. Some faults need the unit taken to the shop, and we will tell you before anything is moved.
Tell us what it is doing.
Call the shop or send the details on WhatsApp and we will take it from there.
